The Category Commercial Manager is responsible for owning the commercial agenda; ensuring profitable delivery of the Annual Operating Plan and over-all delivery of the commercial effectiveness agenda.
KEY COMPONENTS OF THE ROLE:
Own Business Category Diagnosis:
- Drive development of Category Vision and growth strategies based on analytical diagnose of the category, customers, competition & channel performance
- Be the internal authority on market & trade category dynamics for business performance insights
- Own & share monthly tracking of key metrics & big initiatives with clear direction on gaps, issues and opportunities to win
- Diagnose performance gaps and upsides for in cycle 4P planning interventions
- Commercial plan building & strengthening to ensure excellence in execution
- Tailoring Business Strategy to specific retailer/ distribution channel
- Control of retail channel pricing execution
- Market share performance & drivers
- Channel strategy including price/pack format differentiation
- Customer target setting
Design the Bottom-up Operation Plan:
- Lead the bottom-up planning process for the category from customer segmentation through to sign-off of Annual Operating Plan
- Develop & customize channel / account priorities to cover what’s needed to win
- Set execution targets for success on innovation initiatives (distribution, mix, activation & commercial KPI’s)
- Define and drive execution of strategies to win at shelf – range, space and layout?
Delivery of the Revenue Management Plan:
- Set out the Revenue Management agenda and promotional strategy and guidelines for the category
- Create Great Selling Stories from Brand and Category Opportunities
- Set out external customer rationale for promotional strategies
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years commercial experience across sales, trade marketing or category, with well evidenced business acumen, problem solving and commercial judgement
- Educated to higher degree level
- Drive for results, combining tenacity and urgency
- Leadership, coaching and the proven ability to deliver through others
- Strong relationship building and influencing skills within organisation and with trade customers
- Creative thinker in terms of identifying opportunities, defining solutions and ways of working
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
