The responsibility of this role is to develop & execute business strategy to achieve GMV, target brand-portfolio, and SPU richness for assigned category – toys for adults. Category manager acts as e-shop director within AliExpress with full scope of responsibilities for the final outcome and full category performance.
Main Responsibilities:
Market analysis
- Category analysis - market volume and its dynamics by segments; brands landscape (top ranked and new rising stars) with their value and price propositions, financial KPIs; key customer segments, insights and trends; key trends in the industry;
- Be the category expert and consultant for the sellers to advice and help (KA – direct communications, others – conferences and webinars);
- Create brand development list for local BD team.
Strategy
- Create strategy (direction) and business plans (steps) and implement them in coherent manner. Constantly develop and analyze new business opportunities.
Assortment
- Guarantee attractive products and competitive price in regular sales periods and for all promotion in alignment with company pricing and promo policy;
- Manage and develop brand portfolio in accordance with the strategy and market analysis;
- Analyze of the sellers, brands and product performance to get useful insight for category performance improvement.
Customer experience
- Improving customer journey by development of category tree, increasing number of entering points to the category, improving on platform search results…;
- Drive growth within customers in categories by understanding the shopping path, how marketplace engages with consumers and how brands and stores appear online.
Promotion
- Brief and follow the marketing plan (ATL and BTL communications, landing pages, internal promotions, tune search and recommendation engines);
- Work closely with all cross-functional teams such as Promo, Marketing, PR, Global Category management teams to ensure implementation of the marketing plan.
Local Key Sellers support
- Build win-win and trustful relationships with KA brands, care about partners' and company's performance and profit;
- Regular communications with KA on monthly basis (from onboarding stage) with result analysis, highlighting key achievements and creating joint action plan for improvements;
- Negotiations with partners regarding different commercial conditions like pricing on the platform, conditions for delivery, width & breadth of the assortment;
- Review KA sellers’ performance and profitability scorecard based.
Key requirements:
- Master’s degree, preferably in marketing/business/economics;
- 3+ years industry experience in Non-standard industries category management (B2C), online sales, trade marketing and well connected with brands and suppliers;
- Data Analysis – find out problems and their reasons or opportunities through data search, analysis, forecasting and other methods;
- Project management - skills, and according to the goals flexibly adjusts the action plan during the process to ensure that projects meets the goals;
- Strong business acumen and KPIs understanding in retail and e-commerce;
- Advanced user of MS Excel;
- Fluency in written and spoken English & Russian;
- Target-oriented not process-oriented (driven by company vision, mission, targets; takes active actions to overcome difficulties and challenges to archive the expected result);
- Excellent negotiation, sales and communication skills including presentation, facilitation and influencing;
- Ability to work independently and within a high performing team;
- Ability to multitask and complete tasks in a timely manner.
