LOC Market Research Manager
Job Purpose
This role aims to provide customer insights through the execution and integration of market research and other data that will help drive decisions to grow the business and win against competition in the markets we are present or exploring. This position will execute yearly market research plans, clearly communicate research results and findings, and contribute significantly to brand or franchise planning.
The role will collaborate with the commercial teams, medical affairs, market access, and other key stakeholders to lead the development and execution of yearly market research plans. The position will ensure effective communication of actionable market insights to key regional and area stakeholders, as well as perform smooth coordination of efforts with other support functions.
On top of the market research responsibilities, this person will contribute to the overall company analytics and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Market Research:
- Support GSK leadership team, BU’s and franchises in uncovering opportunities from market research results and present the insights to support data-driven decision making.
- Work with other support functions as necessary to ensure efforts are coordinated to address business questions with all relevant information and support related strategic efforts (e.g., innovation launches, customer-centric marketing and sales engagement, market sizing, competitive intelligence, etc.).
- Define the appropriate methodology for market research projects, consistent with business goals.
- Review and select recommended appropriate primary market research agencies consistent with procurement policies.
- Direct, develop, and review all research materials to ensure the research study’s validity and alignment to GSK internal policies and local regulations of research. Provide inputs as necessary to marketing and agencies in development of materials for testing.
- Manage planning to ensure proper execution. Attend field research as necessary to ensure quality and smooth execution and develop direct knowledge of findings.
- Integrate findings from additional data sources (including other primary research, secondary data, syndicated reports, competitive intelligence, etc.) in interpreting results to provide proper context for findings.
- Develop and refine results presentations to address specific audiences and applications and clearly communicate findings to all relevant stakeholders. Translate findings to actionable recommendations.
- Provide significant brand planning assistance by leveraging on past or recent market research studies and share key insights as input in analysis and strategy formulation.
- Effectively manage vendor relationships as well as market research budget for the whole Emerging Markets.
Analytics:
- Support market & company wide analytics, reports & dashboards.
- Be the point of contact on monthly performance review meetings & presentations.
- Preparing top management reports & presentations.
- Secondary data analysis on ad-hoc basis.
Basic Qualifications:
- Master’s or Specialist’s degree preferred
- 3-5 years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience, including at least 1-2 years of primary market research experience
- English: upper intermediate minimum level

- Experience in effectively collaborating within a matrix environment and with colleagues across functions and geographies
- Results-oriented and a creative thinker who is viewed by clients as a collaborative strategic business partner with an ability to influence leaders 2+ levels above in the organization
- Demonstrates ability to maintain objectivity and demonstrate courage to upholds high standards of ethical and intellectual integrity
- Excellent communication skills with a well-developed ability to communicate efficiently and productively both verbally and in writing
- Demonstrated excellence in project management and effectively managing multiple demands from multiple internal customers
- Superior analytical skills with proficiency in a broad range of primary marketing research methodologies including qualitative and quantitative design, data analysis and statistics
- Relevant experience in assessing new markets and developing pre-launch assets
- Knowledge and experience with pharmaceutical data sources (e.g., prescription and sales data, patient claims data, promotional audits)
