Job Overview:
The Security Operations Centre (SOC) Operator will be responsible for delivering operations within the GPS control room across all Company sites in the respective region. Will report to the SOC Shift Manager and use operational best practice to ensure the physical safety and security of our people, buildings and assets.
The SOC Operator will respond to security incidents such as triggering of alarms, intrusion detection, requests for site access and liaison with emergency services. Will engage with people across the business that require security related support and follow up with inquiries where necessary. Will also analyse, assess and triage reports as appropriate and as directed.
The SOC operator may be required to assist Companies’ business travellers in times of need and will be expected to maintain a broad understanding of geography, current affairs and current physical security related trends.
This will be the “crown jewel” of our physical security operation in the region: the ideal candidate will have prior experience of working in a similar international control room or SOC. It is essential that they have an ability to maintain good relationships, a good team ethic and are keen to exceed expectations.
Job Description:
- Operating the SOC, in shift patterns as required (24-hour shifts).
- Provide a high level of service to local and remote Company sites and staff with the emphasis on the security and safety of Company staff, assets and information.
- Monitor operational network video cameras.
- Operate all SOC technologies including network video, access control, etc.
- Coordinate direct action and responses to incidents and alarm activation.
- Compile reports for the SOC Shift Manager in order to share with GPS management on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
- Exceptional communication skills at all times and an ability to adopt the appropriate approach when dealing with others who may be anxious or distressed.
- Provide high quality written and verbal reports as and when required.
- Taking telephone enquiries.
- Maintain accurate logs of events.
- Liaise with emergency services and other monitoring agents as and when directed.
- Assist in the collation and preservation of digital media evidence.
- Assist in the collation and viewing of network video images in response to incident investigation in line with associated code of practice.
- Identify and promptly respond to any system anomalies.
- Support the SOC Shift Manager in monitoring regional travel requests and travel movements.
- Under minimal supervision determine the appropriate response to each reported incident.
- Maintain active awareness of the monitored environment to promote safe and effective working.
- Maintain a conscientious and proactive approach to work to achieve excellent standards.
Competencies and Skills:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience of working within a security environment similar to that of a control room or SOC (desirable)
- High proficiency in using IT applications and evidence of data entry and retrieval, keyboard skills, to a speed of at least 25wpm with at least 75% accuracy.
- A good understanding of video, access and guard management systems
- Familiarity with Genetec, C-Cure, Trackforce or similar integrated systems is highly desirable; demonstration of use of other systems is a must.
- Experience in basic security analysis, problem solving, handling preliminary inquiries, incident assessment and triaging reports.
- Have an ability to deliver succinct and clear verbal and written reports where necessary.
- Basic knowledge of some technical elements associated with security systems such as IP networks, servers, LAN/WAN.
- Basic working knowledge of data protection policies and the need to keep sensitive information secure.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond to incidents, particularly in emergencies, in a professional, resilient and timely manner with minimal supervision where appropriate.
- Ability to pass background verification.
- Comprehensive AOR language skills (Russian); Comprehensive English language, written and spoken is a must; any other languages are highly desirable.
- Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD).
