MIDDLE SCHOOL RUSSIAN LANGUAGE TEACHER
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Anglo-American School of Moscow is looking for a passionate and dedicated Teacher of RUSSIAN LANGUAGE for the Middle school. Middle School consists of grades 6 - 8. The person in this position must be flexible, qualified & capable of instruction in a variety of levels across the Middle School. Class sizes range from 10-20, typically averaging 16 students. The number of students per class is dependent upon student enrollment/selection of each course, and may vary from semester to semester.
Requirements:
- Valid certification as a teacher of Russian language
- Ability to teach native and non-native speakers of Russian
- Fluent English (native-speaker level), written and verbal
- Minimum of two years full-time experience as a classroom teacher in a K-12 school
- Local-hire position. Must be a current, legal resident of Moscow and hold all necessary visa and working permits.
Preferences :
- Middle school experience - Grades 6-8
- International experience.
- Experience working in a multicultural, diverse environment
- Familiarity with Standards-Based Grading and Reporting
- Familiarity with American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) standards
Educational philosophy, pedagogy and curriculum
- Teachers are expected to follow AAS’ Mission, Vision, and Core Values
- Teachers are expected to create their classroom program based on the curriculum documents AAS has developed.
- Teachers are expected to differentiate instruction.
- The School's academic expectations as well as assessment practices are aligned using standards and benchmarks.
Planning, Teaching and Class Management
Teachers are expected to:
- Accept primary responsibility for meeting the holistic needs of the students promoting the Approaches to Learning, teaching skills of learning, thinking, problem-solving and imparting knowledge;
- Recognize their responsibility to work in cooperation with the home toward meeting the intellectual, physical , emotional and social needs of the student;
- Base the educational program on the principle that every human being is valued and deserves the opportunity to attain his/her best self-realization as an individual and as a member of society;
- Uphold high academic standards to challenge each student by differentiating instruction to meet all learning needs;
- Use a variety forms of assessment to gather student readiness and data and to inform instructional practices.
- Promote continuity of curriculum for kindergarten through grade 12;
- Continuously reflect on, assess and improve the school’s instructional methods and materials;
- Recognize the transient nature of the School community requires a curriculum which allows for smooth transitions into the school and adequately prepares students for other educational institutions;
- Reflect the international nature of the School acknowledging the contributions the School community can make to the host city and country and taking advantage of opportunities in Moscow;
- Collaborate on a regular basis with colleagues. This would include co-planning and co-teaching with specialist teachers as well as grade level colleagues.

- There are many opportunities to coach, facilitate and lead a variety of sports, arts, activities and community service
Regular Meetings and Other Expectations
- Participate in weekly faculty meetings (divisional or school-wide)
- Engage in full faculty, MS faculty, grade level, subject area, planning meetings
- Participate in duty rotation
- Serve on a variety of working committees related to curriculum, policy, student issues, etc. on an as needed basis
- Other duties as assigned
