JOB SUMMARY
To oversee the end-to-end music video acquisitions process for Russian artists, including music industry & label liaison, data entry, compliance liaison, carting and content delivery to London Media Desk.
To effectively and competitively music program MTV Russia in line with the business objectives & goals. Use broad and detailed music expertise & research to generate compelling music programming output that audiences want to watch & that competes effectively in the marketplace.
Reports jointly to the Head of Youth & Music Russia, CIS, Ukraine & Baltics, Head of Music Programming (UK Cluster) and Head Of TAM (UK Cluster).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Music Programming
- Responsible for the day-to-day music programming, delivering daily logs on time.
- Liaising closely with UK Music Commissioning team and local production partner for On Air music chart show and other production requests.
- Working with the Network Scheduler to develop the direction and strategy of the channel.
- Maintaining the Music Master database.
- Video Acquisitions & Label Relations.
- Liaising with record companies & content providers to produce a comprehensive forward plan of new music, release dates, tour & promo dates etc. and provide feedback when necessary.
- Identifying key Russian music talent to attend and possibly perform at events.
- Monitoring competitor channels and music video content sites to ensure we have considered all available music videos they play or publish on playlists.
- Providing correct edits & versioning of music videos
- Catalogue of Russian videos which are required for broadcast on the channel, inputting data into relevant databases
Video Acquisitions, Label Relations & Talent Artists Management
- Clearing music rights with Legal Department
- Signing grids (music part)
- Supervising, creating ideas, checking the content before compliance officer
- Supervising mtv ru editorial
- Management of external providers as- and when- required.
Skills & Experience:
- Fluent in both Russian and English
- Will be able to demonstrate strong music knowledge of both local and international artists, and across all genres in relation to MTV Russia’s core demographic.
- Proven track record building and managing relationships both internally & externally.
- Able to make considered playlist judgements using strong analytical skills.
- Well versed in emerging and changing music trends relevant to MTV Russia.
- A fastidious approach, with an impeccable attention to detail necessitated by the nature of acquiring and ingesting content.
- Knowledge and appreciation of the importance of Roskomnadzor rules.
- Well developed knowledge of music programming software and music research essential and a good understanding of Music Master a major advantage.
- Established track record in programming a radio or TV station in Russia.
- Well developed knowledge of the value of music television and an informed understanding of the changing music media market, as well as the impact of emerging technology and new platforms.
- Impeccable organisational and time management competencies. Consistent diplomatic approach and team oriented work ethic.
