WHAT DOES A HEAD OF CONSUMER RESEARCH & SHOPPER INSIGHTS DO?
The scope for the role is to provide Consumer, Shopper & Business data, insights and analytics across all categories for Eastern Europe (key markets Russia, Poland, Ukraine). It will impact cross-functionally into Brand and Customer Marketing, Sales and Finance.
You will actively support the development of marketing plans & capabilities (off-trade & on-trade activities, Digital, etc), be indispensable business partner who is challenging the status quo and provides alternative solutions.
ABOUT YOU
You are interested and have knowledge about consumer behavior. You have strong interpersonal skills, able to combine data, judgement and experience, able to balance research best practice and a strong commercial perspective. You have experience and knowledge of Russian market.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE TO:
- Responsible for leading consumer/shopper & market insights and analytics for Eastern Europe and managing a supporting team of insights professionals.
- Be center of expertise for better decision-making, identify growth opportunities via trends/analysis from multiple sources. Push the business to ask “why” consumers behave the way they do, and how we can understand and respond to their needs.
- Identify and align on key consumer & shopper data demand within organization. Define research methods and resources needed to provide organization with the necessary knowledge, organize and control marketing research including planning, budgeting, quality control and management of external research partners
- Build, agree, and implement a research agenda for the Regional, working through both category and market leadership teams to secure buy-in, funding and engagement
- Work with the Global Strategic Insights and Analytics team on global research programmed to provide Eastern Europe leadership teams with overview of all brand KPIs indicating areas for focus (IWSR, Nielsen, BCT, Consumer mindsets, other bespoke research
- Identify, select and partner with the most appropriate external qualitative and quantitative research agencies to help deliver the research apln
- Increase insights visibility Insights function and the capability of the wider organization through appropriate training, workshops, communication, alongside standard brand and category reporting
THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED TO CREATE YOUR LEGACY:
- Passion for understanding consumer behaviour, to understand and predict how emerging trends will influence purchase and consumption patterns.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with proven ability to influence senior business stakeholders, and effectively manage agency partners
- Able to combine data, judgement and experience - to support effective decisions in complex situations and when there is ambiguity
- Able to balance research best practice and a strong commercial perspective – able to see beyond the data and think about what is best for the business
- Actively seek and take advantage of ideas, best practices, and solutions developed elsewhere
- Proactively share information, best practices, and ideas with others
- Able to effectively operate in a highly matrixed environment and get things done
- Work with and collaborate across functions, geographies, cultures
- Experience and knowledge of Russian market
- Fluent spoken & written English
The following experiences are preferred:
- 7+ years Insights experience
- Strategic thinking, ability to develop long term vision and translate into specific steps to be completed on the way
- Team management experience is preferred
- Skills in managing and balancing senior stakeholders
- Ability to convert high complexity into simplicity - emphasising the broad picture and picking out key detail and translating data and information into meaningful insights
- Ability to combine data, judgement and experience - to make effective decisions in complex situations and when there is a lot of uncertainty or ambiguity.
- Ability to balance research best practice and a strong commercial perspective - to achieve both high quality and maximum value – able to see beyond the research and think about what is best for the business
- Actively seeks and takes advantage of ideas, best practices, and solutions developed elsewhere
- Proactively shares information, best practices, and ideas with others
- Communicates persuasively to win support including at senior management levels
- Able to effectively operate in a highly matrixed environment and get things done through formal & informal channels
