KAZ Minerals Russia is looking for potential candidates for the position of Earthworks Equipment Maintenance Superintendent.
Structural division: Mining Department
Report to: Earthworks Manager (Functional) with administrative reporting to Mine Maintenance Manager
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or Higher Technical education with relevant specialization in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent;
- English - Upper-Intermediate;
- 8-10 years of experience in open pit mining or construction earthworks desirable, with at least 5 years at a Maintenance Superintendent / General Foreman level in a foreign country and some experience with the startup of mine operations an advantage;
- Experience addressing issues that arise from starting a brownfield operation. Organizing, hiring, and training and determining how best to support the needs of the business are desirable;
- Artic or cold weather experience is desirable;
- Minimum 8 years’ experience at similar supervisory roles maintaining heavy earthmoving equipment, preferably gained in the open pit mining sector, with intimate operational knowledge of 150 ton haul trucks and large loaders and excavators;
- Strong technical skills and knowledge across all aspects of mechanical systems for earthworks and mobile equipment including:
- Diesel Engine and Fuel System
- Hydraulic Systems
- Gearboxes and Power Trains
- Breaking systems
- Modern Engine Information Management Systems
- Direct experience in developing and implementing effective maintenance planning and forecasting for all minor and major maintenance repairs, servicing, inspections and for opening and closing out Scope of Works / Work Instruction and work orders (Work Management);
- Well-rounded maintenance background, including servicing, rebuilding, technical trades, fleet (strategic) life cycle planning and budgeting;
- Knowledge of relevant legislative and other normative acts, methodological and other materials relating to mobile equipment maintenance;
- Knowledge of the basics of Labor Code, HSE rules and regulations, fire safety requirements;
- Ability to recognize unsafe and hazardous conditions and remedy them;
- Exceptional Leadership of multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, locksmith, welding and administration;
- Solid computer skills in business software such as Microsoft Office and CMMS’ such as Oracle, Ellipse, JDE, SAP or Pronto;
- Familiar with the use of FMS (fleet management systems) such as Dispatch, Jigsaw or MineStar, and how to utilize such data to optimize mining operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accountable for the output of the Earthworks Equipment Maintenance team including safety, schedule, cost, and maintenance execution;
- Develop an Earthworks Equipment Maintenance team to execute mobile equipment maintenance including workshop set-up in a harsh artic environment;
- Ensure that all employees work in accordance with standards and safe work procedures and actively participates in and promotes HSE initiatives;
- Ensure that Foremen are communicating with earthworks operations counterparts to organize timely access to equipment required to be made available for maintenance work and hand back of equipment to earthworks operations when it has been proven ready to return to service in accordance with the agreed schedule of work;
- Ensure the Operation and inspection of statutory plant to ensure it remains in a safe operating condition at all times and the process of operation and inspection meets statutory requirements;
- Deal with any government representatives who attend the operation and require information about statutory compliance;
- Champion incident reporting hazards as near miss reports as well as incidents which have caused adverse impact;
- Carry out planned task observation both inside and outside normal workplace and work group and coach reports to do the same;
- Carry out formal workplace inspections with area personnel on a routine and scheduled basis;
- Contribute to the development of the maintenance budget.
- Communicate non-financial metrics for your work groups, with the work group Foremen;
- Develop performance plans for direct reports and ensure performance management is a cornerstone of the work groups’ success;
- Ensure possible shortfalls in labour capacities are identified and communicated with the leadership team;
- Assist with investigation into maintenance related equipment performance and issues;
- Attend breakdowns if called out to be the point of call to investigate such matters and commence the process of leadership for planning and preparation for the remediation of such matters;
- Assist in introducing and instilling modern maintenance systems, standards, processes and strategies such as -operate for reliability, asset excellence, defect elimination that are sustainable and create value that support the corporate strategy;
- Identify internal and external best practices in maintenance management relevant to mining equipment and actively develop and foster a continuous improvement culture within the maintenance group;
- Assist the planning and reliability department when required;
- Work collaboratively with mining team including mine operations, mine maintenance, mine engineering, and support services;
- Monitor, manage, grow and develop all direct report staff, as well as ensure processes are adhered to ensure a capable and competent maintenance work centre;
- Review schedule progress and cost tracking reports and make corrections to execution as required.
